HAYLOFT HAPPENINGS/ NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2009
It seems like it was just Labor Day, yet here we are at Thanksgiving with Santa breathing down our necks! I guess we have to drag out the ornaments and actually get into the whole Christmas thing. One suggestion on how to get with the Christmas program is to go to our Christmas program, the first ever “Winter Cabaret”! This delightful show will be held for two weekends at the Malt House Theater on November 28 & 29 and December 4 – 6 (Fridays & Saturdays will be at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM) and will feature dance, skits and, of course, singing. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the Daily Brew Coffee House, 557 Milwaukee Ave. , Burlington , during normal business hours (M – F: 6 AM – 2 PM, Sat./Sun.: 8 AM – 12 Noon). Tickets will also be available on line at www.thehaylofters.com Additionally, tickets will be sold at the door at the time of the show (pending availability).
So you’re looking for a Christmas present – boy, do I have a great suggestion for you! We are offering our season ticket gift certificate for the great price of $30. A season ticket allows you to see three great “regular” season shows (our spring, summer and fall shows – all musicals this year so if you don’t get a season ticket, it will cost you $36 to see them all) and gives you first chance at the sometimes hard to get tickets before they become available to the general public. This seems like a great stocking stuffer to me and a great deal as well!
If you want more information about purchasing a gift certificate for season tickets, call Mary Skwierawski, our ticket maven, at (262)763-3296. Gift certificates are a wonderful way to both give a great gift at Christmas (or for whatever event you choose) as well as to help your community theater!
Our annual meeting (and general meeting for December) will be held on Thursday, December 17, at 6 PM. This meeting is open to anyone interested in our theater. During the meeting, we will hold elections for board positions as well as have a dessert/appetizer potluck (you are invited to bring a dessert/appetizer to pass). Drinks will be provided. We will once again be holding our world famous white elephant gift exchange. If you come, please bring a wrapped white elephant gift to be shared with your fellow Haylofters.
Three positions on the board will be voted on during the meeting. The terms for these positions will be three years. The three board members whose terms are ending are Deb Davis, Lenore Swoboda and Mary Skwierawski. Deb will not be seeking re-election at this time, but Lenore and Mary will be running for re-election. Jordan Debbink has agreed to add his name to the ballot. If you are a paid member of the Haylofters and would also like to add your name to this list, call me (262-763-9395) or email me at tophartwick@wi.rr.com
If you choose not to run for the board, are a member and are interested in voting, please come to the annual meeting to cast your vote (if you have a single membership, you have 1 vote, a family membership, you and your partner have a total of 2 votes). If you are a member, want to vote and cannot be at the December 17 meeting, please either call me or email me by December 15 with your vote. This election (and any future election) is important because the people on the board will be guiding the Hayloft through any possible changes to our much loved community theater.
Happenings will be on hiatus until January so until then, have a safe and wonderful Holiday Season!
Your Hayloft Secretary,
Phyllis Hartwick
