Can it stop raining please?! I am getting so sick of the rain. I guess I shouldn’t let it get me down because I have heard it said “Though April showers may come your way, they bring the flowers that come in May” and I know that we will be seeing not only flowers, but many other great things in May, as well as the end of April! Yes, that’s right; once again I mean that wonderful upcoming Hayloft play, “Lend Me A Tenor”. Let me tell you, the show should bring the house down – it is clever, fast and amazingly funny! What more could you want? Here’s a short idea of why you want to see it: Cleveland ’s premiere opera producer is on the verge of a nervous breakdown because all the tickets are sold to “Otello”, a gala fundraiser for the company, but, it’s three minutes to curtain, and the leading man - the greatest tenor in the world - is missing! Hilarity ensues when the producer decides to have his assistant impersonate the missing star. Of course the star shows up and mistaken identities and crazy plot twists occur. The show has a very fast pace and is sure to be a hit!
Production dates are April 28 - 30, May 6 – 8 and 13 – 15. See, I told you late April and May would hold a reward! Ticket prices are $10 and tickets are available at The Grater Tater, 140 W. Chestnut St. , Burlington , on line at www.thehaylofters.com or through purchase of a season ticket package (call the theater if interested). As usual, we will be holding a small silent auction through-out the run of the play, so if you have an item that you would like to donate to the cause, please call Lenore at 262-763-8602. We will also be holding a general theater clean-up before the opening of the show. The clean-up will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 9 AM at the theater. Remember, many hands make any project more manageable, so if you can help us out, please come!
Did you know that we have the privilege of being one of the first community theaters to present “Jesus Christ Superstar”? Well, let me tell you, we are pretty excited about it!
The very talented Jenny Hoffman will be directing this wonderful musical about the final days in the life of Christ and would like us to get the word out that she needs many people to audition for her play.
Jenny would like her auditioners to be 15 years or older and have a prepared musical piece to sing for auditions. Auditioners will also have to read from a script and possibly do some simple dance steps as well. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors about this wonderful show’s auditions because, due to a restriction on the rights of this show, we are not able to advertise outside of a 10 mile radius of our theater! Auditions for “Jesus Christ Superstar” will be held at the Malt House Theater on May 24 & 25 at 7 PM. Production dates for the show will be July 14 – 17, 21 – 24, 28 – 31. Look for more information about these auditions in next months issue of Happenings, but don’t forget to MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Our next general meeting will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 7 PM at the theater. A “Hairspray” sing along is planned. Join other fans of the musical movie “Hairspray” at the theater for this very fun filled night! There will be no admission fee, just a donation if you choose, you need not be a member to come (but why aren’t you?) and concessions will be also available on a donation basis. Join the fun and come even if you are tone deaf!
Finally, our next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Thursday, May 12, at 7 PM, at the Malt House Theater.
