HAYLOFT HAPPENINGS – JUNE 2010
Everyone wants to be happy. I have to say that our upcoming summer musical comedy “State Fair” makes me happy and I’m sure that the same will hold true for you! Some of the favorite memories a lot of us have of our childhood include times spent at fairs – truly a bit of Americana . “State Fair” is like condensing a bit of happy memory and adding in some wonderful music and energetic dancing! Director Don Fresen has compiled a great cast and put together a thoroughly enjoyable play. Just a word of caution: Our summer musicals frequently sell out, so if you are a season/patron ticket holder, we recommend that you call to hold your ticket for this show NOW.
Production dates for “State Fair” will be July 14 – 17, 22 – 25, 29 - 31 and August 1 (Wednesday – Saturday on the first weekend and on the second and third weekends Thursdays – Sundays). Times are Wednesday – Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 2 PM. Tickets will be available to the general public the week of July 5 at the Daily Brew Coffee House at 557 Milwaukee Avenue in Burlington at the cost of $12. We will also have tickets available on line at www.thehaylofters.com. This is a great way to purchase tickets if it is not convenient for you to pick up your tickets at the Daily Brew Coffee House or you are not a season ticket holder. Prices on line are slightly higher because of a service charge. Tickets purchased on line will be held at the concession stand of the theater for you to pick up at your designated performance. We will not send the tickets to you! All you need to bring to claim your tickets is the paperwork from your computer.
As usual, we will be holding a small silent auction through-out the run of the play, with the winning bidders announced on the last day of the run. Winning bidders need not be present to win. If you have an item that you would like to donate to the cause, please call Jennie at 262-763-5145. We will also be holding a general theater clean-up before the opening of the show. The clean-up will be held on Saturday, July 10, at 9 AM at the theater. Sound like work to you? It actually is more fun than work because of the people who usually come to this – so, join us!
I have heard from director, Julie Busch that our Young Haylofters production of “101 Dalmatians” is going great! She is very happy with her cast and promises us a rousing rendition of the Disney classic musical. Production dates for this show will be August 12 – 15 and 19 – 22. Look for more information to come in the July edition of Happenings.
We are very proud to announce the 2010 recipients of the Haylofters Certificate of Merit Award for a graduating senior. The winners from Burlington High School are Alyssa Jarocki, John Kobernick, Bryce Clark, Shannon Johnson and Anna Guttermuth. These young adults have helped us by appearing in many productions at the Hayloft – either as an actor, singer, student director or member of the crew. Congratulations to these outstanding young men and women, lots of luck in your college and/or adult careers and please come back and work with us again!
A big thank you goes out to all those friends of the Haylofters who helped us make over $600 by working for us at Chocolate Fest! Can I say halleluiah!!! Also sincere thanks go out to those of you who took the time and effort to help us reorganize our prop area. We truly are so blessed with the many people who give of their time so generously that I have no words to say thank you enough.
Lastly, our next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Saturday, July 10, at 12 noon, after the theater clean up at the Malt House Theater.
Your Hayloft Treasurer and Board member,
