Following on the heels of “Jesus Christ Superstar” is the endearing Disney musical classic where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail!  Does a mere beggar end up with the beautiful princess?  Come and see “Aladdin Jr.” and find out!  Already I’m hearing great things about this show – sounds like you don’t want to miss it!  Dates for this Young Haylofters production will be August 11 – 14 and 18 – 21 (Thursday – Saturday evenings at 7:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2 PM).  Tickets will be available at The Grater Tater priced at $7/ticket.

Have you missed auditions for the first two season shows and are still interested in appearing in a wonderful upcoming show at the Malt House?  Do I have a suggestion for you!  Jesse Hurst will be directing our fall musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” and is looking for people to audition.  “I Love You…” is a show about the many kinds of love and relationships we experience throughout our lives.  The show was one of the longest running Off Broadway hits in history.  Jesse needs 8 people – 4 men and 4 women for this unique show.  Auditions for “I Love You…” will be held at the Malt House Theater on Monday, August 22 at 7 PM.  Production dates for “I Love You…” will be October 6 – 8, 14 – 16 and 21 - 23.  

OK, so you don’t want to audition – but you do want to be part of our season next year.  The Haylofters are looking for directors.  Remember, our year usually consists of 3 regular season plays (we have also been known to throw in a few bonus plays now and then).  The 3 regular season plays are: spring – a straight show (comedy/drama) or a small musical, summer – a HUGE musical, and fall – another straight show or small musical. 

Anyone interested should send a resume featuring previous theatrical experience of any kind; plays you are interested in directing (the shows are subject to approval by the Board of Directors); projected needs for the production (budget, set, costumes etc.) and the reason you chose the Haylofters.  Send these materials to: Haylofters, P.O. We are also seeking directors to direct children for our Young Haylofters presentation.  Directors can suggest any shows that they would enjoy directing, but, of course, the shows will need to meet the approval of our Board of Directors and be appropriate for our audiences.  Anyone interested in directing for the 2012 season, needs to submit an application by September 15 to be considered.

Finally, the next scheduled board meeting will be held at the Lucky Star Restaurant, 864 Milwaukee Ave. on Tuesday, August 2, at 6 PM (due to production of “Aladdin Jr.”).
